My name is James Stanert Dransfield (Jim). I started researching our family tree for a Christmas 1999 gift. I was born in Phillibsburg, NJ in 1955, and now live near Seattle, Washington. I have four brothers: Douglas, Thomas (Tim), Donald, and Robert. They were born between 1947 and 1960, and live in Maine, Ohio, and Virginia. My father (Stanert Lewis Dransfield, born 1923) also lives in Maine. My grandfather was also Stanert Lewis Dransfield; they lived mostly in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My great grandfather was John Dransfield, who came to the US from England in 1857 at the age of 3 with my great great grandfather. I don't have a middle name for my great grandfather John. He was born in 1855 in England. My great great grandfather was Samuel Dransfield, born in England in 1833. Samuel was married to Rebecca (I don't know her last name, born 1838 in England).
That is as far as I have gotten to date. The World Book of Dransfields (through a mail offer a few years back)indicates where Dransfields are listed in phone books around the world. By far, the majority of Dransfields of the world are in West Yorkshire, England.
I have more detailed information on my branch of the Dransfields in the US and John Dransfield. John's wife was Rebecca Elizabeth Stanert (born 1857 - I understand the Stanerts came from Wales). I also have names of John's two younger brothers and two younger sisters who were born in America. I have about 3 pages more if you want to hear more about the more recent generations here in the US.
