The DUBROVSKY Legend begins

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

The name Dubrovsky is a Russian name. Alexander Pushkin wrote a short story with the name as the title, in which the hero Vladimir Andreyevich Dubrovsky becomes a highway robber. My fathers real name was Sverchkov. He took the name Dubrovsky as well as a fake Polish passport, right after the war so as not to be forcibly sent back to the USSR. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Mamayev, a Tatar name. I've met a distant cousin in Kazan, Russia, which is where my father came from.
