Lots of data was gathered by my brother and his ex-wife, thankfully, before our grandparents had all died. His ex-wife was a dedicated and brilliant searcher, and she compiled a lot of information. For example, she found a geneologist who had documented my maternal grandmother's family back to a German immigrant who died in 1765 in North Carolina, and through a long line of Admires, the earliest of which was born in 1730 and was a Kentucky farmer until his death in 1804. One Admire and great-great-grandfather Benjamin Long were Civil War vets. Also in the Admire ancestry, one woman is traced all the way back to Sir Philip Steptoe in England in the mid 1600's.
