Most of my family research has focused on the O'Connor side of the family. The name has been O'Connor consistently since 1879. Before that it appears as Connor, Conner, and Connors on different papers.
John Connors and his wife Margaret, and son Michael (my great grandfather)came to Canada from Limerick?, Ireland at the time of the potato famine.
Immigration records show them (John Connors, a party of 3 males, and 1 female, 2 children) in Montreal in 1846.
The 1871 census shows John Connors in Rama township, age 52, birthplace Ireland.
His tombstone in St. Columbkille Roman Catholic cemetery shows John O'Connor's, died 1880 at age 60.
The legal transfer papers show he died May 21, 1879.
I would like to confirm family belief that he came from Limerick, and learn who his and Margaret's parents were, and where they lived in Limerick county, etc.
Michael married Maria Culligan in 1867 at St. Columbkille Church, Uptergrove. Their children were Mary Kate, d.Y., Margaret, (married John Healey, moved to Arizona), and John, (who married Mary Egan, and lived at Rama).
John and Mary (Mamie) Egan had Terrence (who married Henrietta Brochetti and moved to Detroit), Francis (my father who married Reta Donnelly, a teacher interested in family history)and adopted Earlene Barrett (who married Harry Jennens and lives in Toronto). The Connors/O'Connor family farmed in Rama township from the 1850-60s to 1988. Francis and Reta had Mary(who married Philip Duffy), Patricia (who married Gene Baye), and Michael (who married Denise Robert).
Philip and I have three children, Paul, Lisa( who married Christopher McCuen), and Julie (who married Travis Serbinek.)
