i am a student at university college dublin and ever since i began studying history and irish folklore for my degree, i have been spending time looking for my perhaps long lost relations who i believe, left Ireland during the horrific famine of 1845-7. I have found it very difficult to make contact any of these people and because my name is so rare in ireland many genealogists have told us that the search could well prove fruitless. the fact that one the the churches in which there would have been alot of records of my ancestors deaths, etcetc, was burned down, has left me with little opportunity to research.
one good thing that happened was the coming to ireland and to my family home, of a man called Lou Duffley from Canada who has helped my family immensely with our work and hass inspired us with his patient dedication to researching the family name.
Please if there is anyone out there with the same name as myself and who wishes to get in contact, do not hestiate. I 'll certainly be very glad to hear from you.
Go dti an la sin, slan go foill agus beannacht do chara ora duffley
