John James Duncan, David's father, married Marie Krick. I am researching both the Duncan line and the Krick line. John James' father, John Duncan, was born in Bogside Pt. Rollox, District of Springburn, County of Lanark, Scotland. He married Margaret Schultze about 1897. Margaret came from Schwerin, Germany. Her parents were Carl Schultz and Wilhelminia Harde. John James Duncan's grandparents were John Duncan and Janet Moffat. First the Duncans emigrated to Canada, then to Chicago, IL. He was a blacksmith for the Illinois Central RR.

Marie Krick Duncan's parents were Suzanna Karrels and Paul Krick. The grandparents of Marie Krick lived in the Port Washington area of Wisconsin.
