Updated June 16, 2010

About Our Family Research

The John Duncan family moved to Caldwell County, Kentucky (later formed Lyon County) sometime around 1811. Until that time they had been residing around Spartanburg, South Carolina. From there the family grew. Some moved to southern Illinois, some stayed in Kentucky and some to Tennessee.
The Tarlton side of the family has been in Gallatin and Saline counties of southern Illinois since the early 1800's. Some came from Tennessee, some may have come from North Carolina. They married into the Gibbs and Followell families of the area.

Other families you will find in these histories are, Adams, Brown, Caddy, Colbert, Cummins, Eccles, Followell, Gibbs, Gibbons, Hale, Helm, Hurley, Killman, Long, Mattingley, Nall, Shewmaker, Sinsabaugh, Tison, Titsworth, Turner, Wallace, Womack as well as many other connections.

Enjoy the information and remember it is still a work in progress and is not complete. If you have new information or have a question as to the information recorded here, please share it with me. My goal it to create as complete of a family history as possible for all interested benefit from.
