My great-grandmother Elizabeth Murphy Hopkins was born in Cork County, Ireland Dec. 27, 1848 and came to America as a small child with her parents, Robert Murphy and Catherine Fitzgerald Murphy, between the years of 1850 and 1852. Extensive research has been done in other branches of my family by my cousins, but there is not much information about the Irish families. Three of my cousins and I will travel to Ireland July 18 - 28, and I want to try to find the parish records for the Murphy and Fitzgerald families and possibly the cemeteries where their tombstones are.
