A little DUNAWAY history as I've pieced it together in the last 10 years of my research:

Alfred R. Dunaway was born 25 December 1839 in Kentucky. His death
certificate says he was born in Greenup County (see comment below for discrepancy). He died on 17 December 1919 at the age of 79. His parents are listed as Margaret Jordan and Ben Dunaway.

Alfred married Abby O. Jones on June 28, 1864 in Flemingsburg. Alfred was 24 at the time and Abby was 18. I have a copy of their marriage bond in which Seth Botts (Booth?) served as "principal" to the marriage bond. There is a permission slip signed by Abby's parents, Samuel B.H. Jones and Margaret M. Jones. The marriage bond list Alfred1s birthplace as Ohio.

These are the children of Alfred R. Dunaway and Abby O. Jones:
1. James William born 1 Sep 1865
2. Thomas Henry born 23 Sep 1867 (MY ANCESTOR)
3. Joseph F born 8 May 1870
4. George Benjamin born 29 Nov 1872
5. John A. born 1 Jul 1875
6. Martha born 27 Nov 1877
7. Andrew D. born 23 Feb 1883
8. Margaret McIntire born 23 Oct 1885
9. Frank L. born 20 Sep 1889

After Abby's death in 1890 Alfred married Emma L. McKee in 1894. According to the marriage bond Alfred was 54 at the time and Emma was 23. His 10th child Alonso (a.k.a Lonnie) Dunaway was born 18 Oct 1895. Emma died on 5 May 1897.

Alfred married Susanna Hazelrigg in 1902. According to the marriage bond this was the 3rd marriage for each and Susanna was 48 at the time. This bond also lists Alfred birthplace as Ohio. I have found no record that they had children. I did find a record that Susanna married J. McKee in 1920 a year after Alfred died.

NOTE: I've never been able to truly identify who "BEN" Dunaway was. I believe him to be the son of Issac Dunaway and Sarah Penland who married in Flemingsburg 17 Mar 1807. Alfred was listed in the 1850 Census with mother as Margaret who widowed at the time. Margaret married Reuben Plummer on 23 May 1855 and they are listed together in the 1860 Census. Margaret is listed again as a widow in 1870 Census with just her twin sons, William and James
Dunaway.
