Updated April 5, 2001

About Our Family Research

This webpage is meant to introduce myself and request any information you in cyberspace may be able to give me reguarding my family history. My name is Parke Dunder. This is the story told to me in a
letter sent to me by my great uncle Mr. George Dunder who is also very interested in our genealogy. Thanks Uncle!

"In about 1650 the Donder family moved from Salzburg,Austria into East Prussia.A Michael Donder is mentioned in a document in 1750.He evidently had several sons through which my family may have originated. My fathers parents were Samuel and Louisa Donder
Samuel(b.09/02/1821-d.02/15/1900)Louisa Kalinowski(1839-1923).They were living the town of Lipinsken(modern day Poland ex Prussia) in the latter 1800's.They had nine children...eight sons and one girl.I have the names of four.My father,Friedrich(Fritz)Donder(Fred Dunder in the U.S.)was born 1/14/1880.He came alone to America in 1896.A brother,Adam was killed in a coal mine accident on Feb. 10 1917 in Lutgendortmund/Kreis Dortmund.Another brother August(b.12/10/1876-d.10/1/1914)died in
WWI.He worked in the Amalia mine and married Auguste Ditko. They had four children:Wilhelm(1905-12/95),Anna Donder died at age four,Emilie Donder died several years ago and Otto Donder who died in WWII. The last known brother is Michael who had the following children Gunther,Anna,Ottilie,Luise,Heinrich and Emma.Heinrich and his father were working in the Amalia mine...(where my father
worked prior to coming to America). My father mentioned Konigsberg and Lutgendortmond,Kreis Dortmund in the state of Westfallen...I believe the mines were in this area. All of the family were christened in the Lutheren Church in the village of Klaussen which was nearby."

Should you recognize any of these individuals or know anyone related to them I would be most grateful if you would contact me.
