Just beginning to research my roots on my father's side. His name was John Kendrick Duncan. He died when I was only 9 y/o so I have essentially no information to work with. He was born in 1911. His Father was Herbert Duncan possibly of Scottish ancestry. Herbert supposedly was married to a Cherokee indian woman named Mattie(my grandmother). Herbert and Mattie both apparently died when John Kendrick was very young. ONly other sibling he had that I know the name of was Rufus Duncan. I think there were other children also. Rufus married a woman named Emily and they lived in Mobile, AL. Rufus died in the late 50's or early 60's. My Dad married Inez Pierce of Semmes AL and he died in 1965.
