Dunn Family of Thebes IL and Cape Girardeau County MO

Updated January 31, 2012

About Our Family Research

This website concerns the ancestors and family of Clyde Franklin Dunn (1888-1974). I knew him as Grandpa Dunn. He grew up in Neely's Landing, MO and spent most of his life in Thebes Illinois. He raised a large family and there are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren now. The pursuit of grandpa's ancestry has been challenging to say the least. He was mostly raised by his half-sister and her husband, as both of his parents died before he was 10). I have devoted many hours to discovering his ancestry and hope to share what I have found with family members who share an interest in our family's history. Enjoy!

  • Dunn Origins: Ireland -->Tennessee --> Illinois (3 KB)
    This entry from an old Tennessee History volume provides a sketch history of a Dunn Family. In the narrative there is reference to a "Leander Dunn" who I believe is the same person as the Leander Dunn later found in Cape Girardeau Co, MO in the 1830's-1862 time period. Read the Dunn Ancestry Report for further information.
