* The Roger L. Dupont Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

This is my first attempt at this sort of thing, so I hope you'll all be patient with this ol geezer of 67. For the future, should some of my grand-children or ancestral linkage be looking for information tied to this family, it is my desire to supply what little information I could find to make their task easier. At the present time, I am limiting myself to ancestry on my side and my wife's side of the family, and most of the living descendants from both sides that I could find (for their sake). At the present time, since most of my family is franco-american, most of my search is being done at the American French Genealogical Society Library in Woonsocket, R.I., which is only 60 miles from my home. Their Drouin and Jette records are an incredible help as almost all of my ancestry is in there. That is, anything back from 1760. I've only been there 6 times and already recorded over 300 names....not much by some standards, but surprising for me. The key male names for me are, of course, Dupont, Lacroix, Souci & Maillet on my side. On my wife's (died 4 years ago); Vallee, Benoit, Frechette & Hamel.
Anyone related living in Montreal might have seen an interesting article written about one of my wife's ancestors last year. He was a pioneer of Ville-Marie by the name of Paul Benoit dit Nivernois who went there in 1653. He's 8 generations back from my late mother-in-law. He written up in "Le Grande Recrue de 1653". The article was in "La Presse, Montreal, Samedie 27, Janvier, 1996. Enough for now.
