The Dyne family originated in Durham as far back as the early 1800's. They started with a John Dine a customs house office, from about 1860 the name changed to Dyne when John Dyne dissappeared from any records, although a John Dine died in Durham gaol in 1856. Since then coal mining was the main occupation of the Dyne family. Some followed work and moved to Northumberland in the 1880's.
James Dyne (son of John) had many children Frederick born 1880 stayed in Durham, he and his wife Agnes died in the 1910's and left 4 children, one Frederick moved to New Zealand where we now have a new arm to the family.
The rest stayed in the north east of England as miners, Porters and inn keepers. The family has spread over the UK to Brighton, Portsmouth, Nottingham and some in Northumberland.
My father William Nelson Dyne was one of 8 children, with 2 sets of twins.
Some of the earlier ascendants moved away and emigrated, I would like to find links here.
Dyne is not a common name and in the mid 1850's only found mainly in 2 clusters, the north east of England and London and Essex areas.
