I have been serching for George W. Grimes for several years.
I have very little to go on. In1882 he applied for a pension and was denied because his name did not appeare on the rolls of the ship that he said he sailed on. He gave the name of his half-brother William Foley as serving with him, so I assume that his father was married twice and his secound wife's name was Foley.
The 1850 census shows him and his father were born in Maryland.
George is supposed to have inlisted at Washington City in 1838 and discharged in 1839.Florida Indian Wars.
He married Sarah Grayson on May 21 1846 in Nacogdoches Texas.
He died Dec. 28 1902 at Proctor Comanche Co. Texas.
A family renunion is held on the 2nr. or 3rd. week of July In Texas or Okla.
