A waste of tax payers money and a hard time for a senior citizen and a retired law enforcement officer.
Last spring I was expecting a service truck coming from a high speed internet service and all of a sudden I heard a lot of loud dog barking. I looked out the window and saw it was the service truck and a big dog that looked like it was a rotwiller snarling and trying to bite the truck. The driver stopped then backed up and headed back to casa grande, I then told my wife to call him and tell him to come back that I would protect him, I then told her to call the Pinal county sheriffs office and animal control and let them know that there was a vicious dog in the area. I then walked approx. 500 hundred feet to my mail box and the dog was barking at everything in sight like it was rabid, so I came bake to my yard and opened my drive gate to let the service truck in. In just a little while the service man was back and the same situation the dog was barking and trying to bite the truck so I motioned where the driver should park his truck and then he just sit there, scared to get out, well the dog went around to the other side of the truck and when he saw me he came at me full speed with mouth wide opened, I then shot the dog and put him down, I then motioned for the driver to get out of the truck and he did and came over to me and while we were talking the dog got back up again and I shot him several times more bringing him down again. I then emptied my weapons out and opened up the actions and took them inside my house to await the authorities.
The Pinal county sheriff officers arrived first a sergeant and two deputies and then animal control approx. 3 hours after the initial call on 911.
My guns were checked out as were my self and then one of the officers walked over to me and said, how are you doing? And I said ok. And then he said GOOD JOB, GOOD JOB. Then they left.
A few months later I received a summons in the mail and it said I was to go to court and before the court I was to go to Florence jail to be fingerprinted and be booked for my “CRIMINAL RECORD”, what criminal record I have never been in trouble before.
I worked over twenty years at the Arizona State Prison in Florence and about 90 percent of the time I worked the gun towers, I received a commendation one day for saving and inmates life by having to shoot another, I received a bunch of other “atta boys”
On the summons it said animal cruelty, reckless endangerment. On the Complaint count 1, knowingly or recklessly inflicts unnecessary physical injury to any animal.
My rebuttal to this is the Arizona Revised Statues gives to me the right to use deadly physical force to protect my life and also the life of another party.
The State of Arizona trusted me for over 20 years with their weapons TO NOT SHOOT RECKLESSLY, AND KNOW WHERE MY SHOTS WOULD WIND UP.
Again this shows you how waste and CORRUPTION is happening in the elected officials of Pinal County and it is time to vote these people out beginning with the sheriff and going also to the county attorney and any one else who has their nose in this. And one final thing I just got out of the hospital with cancer surgery and as soon as the court deal is over on me then I will be finding out the name of the owner of the dog and will bring a BIG lawsuit on him or her for letting a vicious animal run loose.
