EDWARD OWEN EDWARDS was born December 18, 1838 in Groesffordd, Isgeifigg Parrish, Flint Shire, North Wales.
On September 23, 1848, EDWARD'S mother Hannah Evans died. On the same year his father remarried Alice Davis.
On July 1856, before EDWARD turn 18 years old, he left Wales to go to America.
About 1858, EDWARD'S father, Owen, with several children moved to Ohio/West Virginia.
[EDWARD would have been 20 yrs. old, Robert 18 yrs. old, Charles 12 yrs. old. His stepbrother and sister were Samuel and Elizabeth.]
EDWARD OWEN EDWARDS married (1) MARY ALLEN Abt. 1864.

i. OWEN EDWARDS b. August 23, 1864
ii. REESE EDWARDS, d. Infancy.
Story passed down by Thomas V. Edwards' grandparents as told by his dad was: EDWARD OWEN EDWARDS met Susan Griffith on the ship coming over from Wales. If so, it appears EDWARD went back to Wales, then returned to the states in 1865. Another story handed down, was EDWARD helped in freeing slaves, purchasing them and then giving them their freedom.
EDWARD married (2) SUSAN (Susannah) GRIFFITH Abt. 1866. She was born August 03, 1844 in Haberdare, Glamorganshire, South Wales.
Children:
i. WILLIAM EDWARDS b. July 24, 1866
ii. Gomer, born on the 7th day of September 1868 died in infancy.
September 12, 1868 EDWARD OWEN EDWARDS became a citizen at Akron, Summit County, Ohio. The very next year, Hannah was born in IL
iii. HANAH EDWARDS b. December 25, 1869 IL.
1870, (July 16) Census shows the EDWARD OWEN'S family living in Mason Co., Waggener Township, W.Va. with David Davis 66 (related to Alice Davis?) and Gomer Griffith (related to Susan?)19 lived with them.
EDWARD, his brother Charles and their father Owen, were coal miners at Hartford City, Mason Co., W.Va.
One of the places EDWARD OWEN lived for a short while was Minersville, Merge County, Ohio. It is just across the river, about two miles away from Hartford City, WV. Also across the river, is Pomeroy, OH. Neil Garrison's grandmother said her mother talked how the Edwards would go into Pomeroy (by ferry) to get things.

All the known locations where EDWARD OWEN and family moved (with the exception of IL) are along a line of coal mining activity extending from Akron, OH due south through New Straitsville, OH, Minersville,OH; then southeast toward WVa & back north to southwest PA.
