There were Three Edwards brothers, who came here from England, Robert, John & Reuben. Robert Edwards was among the largest land Proprietors in the whole state of New York. He held the original grant from King George of England for 86 acres in the heart of New York city. Part of the property now traversed by Broadway and probably now the most valuable ground in the United States, in addition to this he owned 1,ooo acres along the Hudson river a great portion of Jersey City, and almost the whole of Abezdeen, Ohio. All of the property in New York was leased to New York by a nephew of Robert Edwards for a term of eighty years and at the expiration of that time it was to revert to his heirs. Robert having died childless this property rightly belongs to the descendants of his two brothers. My father was Clyde Edwards, his father was John M. Edwards, his father was John D. Edwards, son of Isaac P. Edwards, who moved from virginia to North Carolina and later to Lowndes County, Alabama. His father was David Edwards of Virginia and a son of the orginial John Edwards, son of William who was a brother of Robert Edwards of New York. If anyone knows of any of my ancestors please contact me.
