Ancestors making up this extensive Family Tree are composed of The Lewis R Edwards/Hannah Johnson Line from Georgia & North Mississippi. Lewis served as a Private in the 42th Mississippi Infantry Regiment(CSA), which fought in several very Historical Battles of the Civil War including Gettysburg and Petersburg. Next, is the Joseph H Hughes/Elizabeth Mason Line of Western Kentucky whose sons ("Ham"&"Zem") served in the First Kentucky Brigade(CSA), or better known today as the infamous, Orphan Brigade, composed of 5000+ Kentuckians when organized in the Summer of 1861. "Ham" fought for nearly four years in every Skirmish, Battle, or Campaign involving "The Orphans",(except for Baton Rouge, when he and his Co.G, due to a rotational schedule, remained at Vicksburg on Pickett Guard Duty) from July 1861 to May 6,1865, when he and less than 500 original "Orphans" surrendered to the Federals at Washington, GA. He was wounded only once, and that was during the actual Battle of Atlanta(Intrenchment Creek)."Zem" was captured on July 20,1864 during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, GA, and was interned as a POW at Camp Morton, near Indianapolis,IN, until released Feb 6, 1865. They both returned home to Western Kentucky--and Cadiz, in Trigg County. Then there is the Levi Lancaster/Faitha Futrel lineage of Virginia, Northhampton Co., NC and finally Christian/Trigg County, KY. Levi was a Lawyer and held several local Government positions-Commissioner of Taxes, Justice of the Peace, Sheriff, Magistrate, and Judge. Intwined by Marriage in the Lancaster and Hughes Families over several generations is the William Cunningham family of Ayrshire,Scotland/Virginia/and Trigg Co,Kentucky.
