I am researching Edwards, France, Funk, Schmidt and associated families, as well as Brank and Cadwallader.
I am a descendant of Arthur Edwards (1786)/Freelove Clouse, who lived in Claiborne County, east Tennessee, near the Cumberland Gap, in the early 1800s. In 1850, they, some of their extended family, and the Ramsey and Wheelis families, built flatboats, drifted down the Tennessee River to the Ohio River, then took a steamboat to northeast Missouri. From there they used wagons to travel to and settle in Davis County, Iowa. In 1851, some of them moved to Decatur County, Iowa.
Their grandson, Anderson Edwards (m: Armina Ramsey), is my g-g-grandfather. He moved to St. John, Washington, about 1876 and built the region's first flour mill. His son Josiah (my g-grandfather) was born in 1859 in Iowa and died in Washington in 1943. Josiah's son Ira (1899-1978) was my granfather; Ira's son Loren (1927-1978) was my father.
I have a copy of the Ramsey-Edwards Family Record, compiled by Wilma Ramsey Foland and published in Iowa in 1958, plus miscellaneous other items. I will share what information I have.
I am seeking confirmation of my Edwards lineage prior to Arthur Edwards, which so far has proven unreliable because of the Edwards Heirs hoax. I have seen a variety of conflicting information regarding John (Crawford) Edwards (m: Polly Potts and/or Henriette Barbour Collins), Joshua Edwards, and Abel Edwards (m: Polly Potts).
My father's mother is Ruby France, mother's mother Jane Funk Schmidt.
My wife's family is Cadwallader/Yardley.
