I have just started my research, (4/2002). My paternal grandpatrents lived in Fruitville, Fl until the late 1950's/early 1960's. Rumor has it my greatx2-grandfather was a Confederate vet that homesteaded in Venice, FL in the 1860's.The family ran a slaughter house in Fruitville until the early 1950's, the site is now a private airfield. A street in Fruitville is named Vic Edwards Ave., supposedly after my great uncle.
My maternal grandparents are from the Arcadia/Wauchula/Plant City, FL area. The cross family ties are Alderman and Sullivan.
My great-grandfather Brady Sullivan was a policeman for the city of Arcadia sometime in the late 1920's or 1930's. My great-grandmother, Callie, said her grandmother was a full blood Cherokee indian. Callie's father homesteded near Plant City, Fl
sometime around 1890.
