Family research is fairly new to me. I have only been doing this for about six months. My family is spread out across the states, and we have never been close. My family never discussed our relatives when I was growing up. What little I have has come from aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins that can remember as much as I have. I have a third cousin who lives near me that has done genealogy for a long time. We were close friends for two years when she found out that we are indeed third cousins! She has given me a lot of info about my family through a search of her own family. I am really grateful to her for her help. Through the internet query system, I recently discovered a second cousin who has been doing genealogy for a long time. She opened up a whole new family for me. In fact, I feel rather guilty because she has done all the work for the info that I have been trying to find in the last few months. She is a treasure! I have very few pictures from my childhood, and what I do have, are not dated or named on the back. So that is a huge loss. Both of my grandparents and great aunts and uncles are deceased on both sides of my family. I may have my work cut out for me, but persiverance shall prefail, along with the internet!
