Mijn broer Luc heeft het volgende gevonden bij stamboomonderzoek.

De vroegst bekende Eekhout was Nicolaas Joostzoon Eekhout, die van beroep smid was. Uit zijn tweede huwelijk werd in 1716 Johannes geboren. Vermoedelijk was hij ook smid van beroep. Het gezin woonde in Druten. Via Druten, Voorburg, Monster,
Poeldijk, Hof van Delft en Pijnacker werd de naam Eekhout rond 1830 definitief in de stad Delft gevestigd.
