Welcome!! This page is being researched by a mother-daughter team. We are having great fun using the internet and have just recently begun to scan photos of as many people as we can find. We go for months without adding anything new and then find several resources or contacts all at once. We will respond to all who contact us.
The Snyder tree is quite extensive and the most common names you will find are: SNYDER, MATTERN, DOMER, REIGH, GRAY, LIGGETT, SHIMER, NELSON, McCUNE, STINE, COLEMAN, CHERRY, KELLER, HYSKELL, HARTSOCK, GEARHART, ROOT, ALE. Much of this family history is located in Pennsylvania with newer generations located in Ohio.

SNYDER-folk have been harder to find even though we know that they were in New York and Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We have recently added to NELSON and MC CUNE thanks to two (some sort of cousins) who contacted us recently by email.

The Egan tree is much sparser. The names you will see most frequently are: EGAN, CANTILLON, SWANSON, HAZARD, YATES, SIDES, LAFFNER. The Swanson (Swedish) line is relatively complete but all the other lines need lots of work. Great great grandfather Thomas Egan moved with his mother (Martha Yates Egan) and his sibling from Nenagh, Ireland to the Hamilton, Ontario area in 1849-50. While he died in Los Angeles, he is buried in Hamilton with the other members of his family. Tracing back on Thomas (not much known about his father) and finding information about his siblings is another major part of our effort currently.

  1851 - 1940 One of many formidable Domer women! Married Lewis Reigh on Feb 23, 1871.

  Born December 13, 1868.
• Thomas Egan (10 KB)
  Thomas Egan 1831-1920. Son of James (Ireland) and Martha Yates Egan (England). Emigrated to Canada. Civil War soldier (Union).
• Frederick William Egan (17 KB)
  Fred Egan 1857-1936. Married Margaret Cantillon in 1889.
• Eva Hill Snyder Lord (58 KB)
  Not much is known about Eva (1871-1939) . . . most in our family did not talk about her. She married David D. Snyder.

• Descendants of James Egan (21 KB)
  James Egan (Ireland) married to Martha Yates (England). Martha and her children moved to Canada. It is believed that James died before the move to Canada and before 1850.
• Descendants of Daniel Snyder (9 KB)
  Very little is known about our first Daniel and our first David. Please contact us if you can fill in the blanks.
• Descendants of Johan Georg Dommer (63 KB)
  This is a long and complex line. There are several different but similar branches. This is our best information to date.
• Descendants of Hans Georg Mattern (57 KB)
  Several Mattern families with similar names emigrated on the same ship. After piecing many puzzle pieces together, this seems like the most likely scenario for our family. No doubt changes still need to be made.
• Descendants of Nils Gislesson (10 KB)
  This is a Swedish line with my grandmother's maiden name of Swanson.
