This is my family tree as passed down from my father, and my fathers father. The Smith family originated on the East coast of Wales. Elias Smith was born in 1781 and at the age of 18 he boarded a merchant ship. After several weeks he landed in New York... "but owing to the unsettled and hostile attitude of the American people at that time to anything British, he felt it was no place for him, so with all dispatch he made his way to Canada and in due time and in his own humble way settled with his wife, Secord, among a few native whites and Indians in Western Canada (Ontario) near Moraviantown, (South of London, Ontario)
