John Baptist Nicolen, born in Pourentry, France. June 1840 settled in Pennsylvania with his family. July 1, 1840 left for Ohio, Richland County where his father (we don't know parents names) had bought a piece of land. August 1841 his mother, father and two sisters died of smallpox. He has a younger brother (don't know name) neighbors told them they were to be bound out as slaves, since they had no one to look after them.
1855 John Baptist had lived with the Coble (don't know first name)family for fourteen years in Richland County, Ohio. March 2, 1856 when he became of age he married Susan Coble.
