The Leo Joseph Niebauers of Michigan

Updated March 6, 2001

About Our Family Research

Our homepage is lovingly named after the deceased patriarch of our family. "Grampa" died in 1991 and was nearly 89 years old. He was born in Pigeon Michigan of German parents. Our Grampa was a quiet and intelligent man who enjoyed building and showing steam engines for a hobby. He worked at Uniroyal Tire Company for nearly 35 years. Grampa was also a master gardener who could grow just about any berry under the sun.
Once while picking blueberries at his Harper Woods home, he opened up and made a comment to me that was frozen in my memory. He said that I had a great uncle named Leo Dietler who was a famous architect in his time in Switzerland. I have never forgotten this comment and have always been interested in learning more about who this person was and what he designed. My ancestors were from the Bavaria region of Germany.
We often have family reunions at the lakeshore property of Leo and Genevieve Niebauer near Huron City Michigan on Lake Huron. Their children are: Genevieve Catherine Thielen, Leo J. Niebauer Jr. and Rosemarie Niebauer. Grandchildren are: Terrianne T.Jones, Lisa Thielen - Ekanger, Lawrence John Thielen Jr., Kelly Marie Thielen, Leanne Yvonne Niebauer, Jennifer Niebauer, Katie Niebauer,Carolyn Niebauer, Joseph Niebauer & Laura Leanne Niebauer. Great Grandchildren are: Levi Alexander Ekanger, Zachary Jones, Katie Jones, Sigourney Ekanger and a new little one due in Nov 2000. Genevieve is alive and well and will be celebrating her 85 birthday next August (2001). Any information or comments in regards to our family are welcomed!
