We have finally cataloged all the old pictures and named who is who in them. I have managed to scan the pictures of Henry Postma and Dr. Gerard Postma. And the siblings of my grandfather: "Kees" and "Kiek." The Ekama book written by Henry Ekama my great great grand father, is yet to be translated in to English. Hopefully we can add to it.
My father an his cousin hope to translate the whole book and put the pictures with it. The number of known Ekamas alive in the world is slowly increasing.
Also as far as we have been able to tell our name means "the guy around the corner." Interesting, thanks to Napolean. Also due to him our name has been spelled different ways Ekama being the most common. Though if you look on most searches you will find none. Napolean has also caused the Postmus name to be changed to Postma.
I am trying to track down information on Klaas Postma, and many others that are 5-6 generations into my tree. Those of which include Cornelius Ekama, Knoop, and Verburg. I have found more decendants of Klaas Postma thanks to those on the Genforum.
The Cincinnati Lloyd Library and museum has a book/ encyclopedia of scientific people written by the medical Dr. Cornelious Ekama The is a road named for him in Haarlem.
