Mike and I have been researching our various branches of our familiesa for a number of years now. We have visited Slovakia where both of our families were from. We have, thanks to Mike's sister Eleanor and my mother Margaret, pretty much information on the maternal sides of our families...Novotny and Baker(Pekar) but not much on the ekoniaks or the Hanuschaks. We know many names but not a lot of detail. We have direct ancestors with the following surnames: Pekar, Dil, Hanuscak, Kolesar, Novotny, Kalafut, Ekoniak(Ikoniak), and Ferencucha. They come from villages in Slovakia like Porac, Kelca, Rudbachy, and Yavorek in Spis county and Zemplin. They settled in the Hazelton, Pennsylavania area, in the coal mine country and Youngstown and Campbell,Ohio near the steel mills. Also have Baker relatives in the Minneapolis, MN area.
