The Lewis/Ford family of East London

Updated February 12, 2002

About Our Family Research

I am researhing into my grandparents families. From family sources I find that both my grandfather's family (Lewis) and my grandmother's family (Ford)were dockers in London. They lived in the Cable Street area, around Shadwell and Royal Mint Street.I am having some problems tracking my great grandmother's family as she was a widow when she married my great grandfather (George? Ford). Her previous married name was Elizabeth Hayes and she had a son Johnny Hayes, but no-one can tell me her maiden name nor the date of her marriage into the Ford family, probably around 1890's.She was born around 1867 I know they were of Irish descent, but do not know how long they had been in England.
I also know that my grandfather's family was of Welsh descent, but appears to have Irish connections. Both sides of the family were catholic.
