The Huffs of Columbus, OH

Updated February 26, 2005

About Our Family Research

The Huff family (my branch of it) lived in and around Flushing Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio in the 1800's. They were farmers. I am descended from Harmon Huff.s son, Benjamin, born to Harmon and his first wife Sarah Wright in 1853. He supposedly had a twin brother who died right after birth or seven months later, as did his mother. Can find no record of twin, nor birth and death records of mother. She was supposedly buried on father's farm as was custom in those days. His name may have been Johnny Wright. The search has been complicated because Harmon married again a year or so later, to a Sarah Van Fossen. There are a zillion Sarah Huffs. The name Huff was actually Hough in Scotland but was changed by some official in USA - a very common practice. Benjamin had three daughters, so there are no male Huffs left. Benjamin's daughters married McIntire, Dunlap and last one is unknown.
