My interest began with the discovery of the old diaries, photos and Civil War letters. Along with these items in the trunk up in the old attic, were old programs from my great grandfather's concerts. Gee, it seems that he was a famous guy in Hartford. I didn't know much about my line of Emersons until a volunteer at an LDS Family Resource Center found my great-great grandparents!!! Now these pictures with my grandmothers hand-written identification were starting to make sense. Dr. James book leaves off where my line begins: we are descended from Michael Emerson=Hannah Webster,Joshua=Mary Clark,William=Abigail Pattee,William=Elizabeth Myrick,Ebenezer=Mary Emery ( we're getting into Maine now) Emery Emerson= Amelia Webb, Irving=Mary Young,Carl=Ruth Seavey,Irving=Elaine Anthony, and finally, me,Carl Emerson. The first and famous Irving Emerson was really named Orlando O Emerson which he HATED and changed to Irving. The reason for this I have yet to learn. As I learn more about computers, I will try to publish pictures of my clan and perhaps some pages from my forthcoming book," Irving Emerson: From Farm to Fame". There aren't too many of us now, but I have met some real live cousins out there on line. I love when that happens. And the dead really do tell tales. I hope to hear from all my "cousins" out there soon. Other names in my Family Tree include, Webb, Young, Myrick,Pattee,Seavey,Ware,Wight,Pendleton,Anthony,Hussey,Long,Pattinson and many, many more. E-mail me at: pfanmann@aol.com Thanks, Carl Emerson
