The Emerencia family of Aruba

Updated June 30, 2003

About Our Family Research

The Emerencia family in Aruba started during the second world war when my father, Henrico, moved to the island from Curacao. A few years before that, he arrived there from his native island Bonaire to seek further education.
In 1946 he married my mother, Paula Tromp, a native of the village of Noord. All their twelve children were born in Aruba and most of us completed our secondary education there before moving on to other parts of the world for university studies. At this moment about half of our family is back in Aruba and the other half in Europe (mainly The Netherlands).
I live in Belgium and started researching our roots a few years ago.
