I started this about two years ago.... Trying to located the graves of my Mother-In-Laws parents. Father (Harley Neville Smith) died when she was four years old in Portsmouth, VA.; leaving behind four children all under four years of age. And mother (Hazel Amelia Powell) died ten years later in Silver Creek, Pa. Where abouts of their graves is still unknown. Little is known about either parent or their family. What we know: Hurley Neville Smith, born and raised in Henry Co., IN. Enlisted in the Navy in 1908, Indianapolis, IN. and stationed in Porstmouth, Va., died abt. April 1929. Their mother moved to Silver Creek, Pa. where both her brothers were living. She met and married Howard Wise Richards. After her death, the girls were taken away from their step-father and sent to live with their uncle Jack and his wife in New York City. A few years later all were split up and living with different families.
