About Our Family Research
We are researching the family of James Edward Estep who was married to Lucy Fanny Cantley, the daughter of Daniel S. Cantley and Harriet Catherine Means. At this time we can go no further back than James Estep, on the Estep side and be for certain. James Edward Estep year of birth was said to be 1868. He was said to have grew up in Polly Hollow which in now in the Kanawha State Forest. It has been said that James Edward Estep, died around 1907, and was killed while out riding a horse, and that he was run over by a train at Olcott, WV. It is thought that he owned the land where he lived at Polly Hollow, and when he died his wife Lucy Fanny Cantley, then remarried to a George Bair who later had title to the land. Other family names that are connected to our family line which have not been mentioned are Pennington, Mooney, Withrow and Cobbs.
