I have researched and obtained many names of maternal and paternal ancestors; dating as far back as 1700's.
In 1995 we had a "Fillion Family Reunion" over 2000 invitations were sent. The reunion took several committe members to organize. Hundreds of family members attended. On a wet July long-weekend in the town of St.Jean Baptist, Manitoba.
I have researched and documented the LEONARD family history and the NOLIN family history. There is much information documented Renee Leonard (dad's brother).
The Leonard and Nolin family are of Metis heritage. We are descendants of our Ojibua Indian Family from Rosseau River, Manitoba. They have made this family who we are today. They worked hard with so much less than we have today. Much sadness and pride was overcome due to the fact that the first settlers, the immigrants from across the Ocean these caucasion people of our country were prejudice. The Metis and aboriginal people were suppressed people because of the political prejudices, fears, and greed of the caucasion immigrants.
I am very proud to be a part of the large Metis/Aboriginal family.
Dear God Bless this family; those alive and those who have lived and died before us. They have made our family who we are today.
