In 1923 or 1924, in the basement of the McCoy shoe repair shop. The Shoe Repair Shop was on the corner of Main & Grand streets, Okmulgee, OK. The shop belonged to John Samuel and Irene Beckett. Purl and Irene were brother and sister.
