So far, our Poston families start with Charles Poston(1)who lived in Whitchurch, Shropshire, England sometime prior to 1776. He married Ann(e) Green on April 7, 1776. The children of this union were: here listed in order: Mary Poston born April 2, 1777; William Poston born Feb 22, 1778; Nancy Poston born October 13, 1779; William Poston born April 16, 1781; Richard Poston born October 16 1781; Charles Poston, Sr. born June 2, 1789; Eleanor Poston born August 21, 1793; Thomas Poston born August 21, 1793; and Martha Poston born October 14, 1795. It appears from the records that Ann died and Charles (1) remarried to Mary Yardley June 9, 1809. They also resided in Whitchurch and had the following children: Edward Poston born October 15, 1811; William Poston october 13, 1812; Thomas Poston born February 19, 1815, John Poston born February 4, 1818; and Mary Poston July 8, 1824. Charles Poston (1) is said to have died in Whitchurch in 1833.
Charles Poston Sr. immigrated to Canada sometime before his marriage to Jessamine Mountain in Quebec City, Canada, October 3, 1821. His half brothers William, Edward and Thomas also immigrated to Canada, but I'm not sure if it was with Charles Sr. or a later date. Charles was 33 and Jessie was 18 when they married.
Charles and Jessie's children were: Charles Henry born in Quebec City, July 30 1822; Ann Poston born and died in 1824; William Benjamin born July 10 1825; Anne born and died in 1828; James Glover born September 13, 1829; Mary Anne born September 3, 1829 and died 1855; Susan born and died in 1841. Jessie died in 1842. There is no evidence that Charles Sr. remarried and it is said that he traveled back to England to claim his inheritance, but died just before reaching England and is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery, London, England in 1856.
Charles H. Poston, son of Charles Sr.,married Dorothea Nichol in 1847 in Quebec City in 1847, but she and their infant died in 1848. He remarried Charlotte Tweddell (parents were Thomas and Mary Ann Tweddell) in October 20, 1852 in Quebec City. They had 7 children, 3 surviving to adulthood. Albert Henry, b 27 Dec 1858, Ella Winifred, b 1862, and James Saxon, b 1864.
Albert Henry married Catherine Ross in Pembina, North Dakota approximately 1880. They had seven children: Charles A., Adele, Ella, Cecil, Gertrude, Richard Gordon Ross, and Maude.
I have much more information available including spouses, children and copies of some documents.
