Presently I am trying to find out information about my paternal great grand father who is believed to have been of Seminole origin and my father's maternal grand father who is believed to be Welch with the last name 'Evans' and his wife is believed to have been Scottish with I believe the last name 'Powell'.
Research has so far revealed that Castleton Evans left Wales and I guess traveled to Scotland where he met and married his wife. Somehow, he and his wife came to The Bahamas and operated a Plantation in Andros. It was to this island that a Seminole Indian with an Indian name meaning 'long hair', came as an indentured servant. He worked for this Evans family on their plantation in Andros. He fell in love with their only daughter Eliza and married her. On the death of her parents, they inherited the plantation and named it Evans Town.
The copule had several children, among them, my grandfather Herman Duncan Evans. I would like to find out exactly who Castleton's family were in Wales and also his wife's family in Scotland. I would also like to trace my Seminole ancestry.
