The Evans and Barth Family of Southern California

Updated November 26, 2000

About Our Family Research

I have just begun my research with family interviews. My parents surnames are Evans and Barth. Both families were in Southern California (Los Angeles and Orange Counties)by 1917. My grandmothers surnames are Willhite and Aby. My great-grandmothers surnames are Sutton and Perry. The Evans family was in Indiana by 1868 and probably as early as 1825. They started coming to California around 1900. The Barths came from Germany to Nebraska around 1890, then to Iowa in 1898 and to California by 1917. The Willhites were in Missouri in 1833, but showed up in Kansas by 1896. Both greatgrandmother Willhite(surname Perry) and greatgrandmother Evans(surname Sutton) died in California around 1950. The Aby's were in Iowa and Nebraska in the 1800's and apparently never came to California. The Suttons were in Indiana in 1890. The Perrys were in Ohio in 1870.
