Mc Innes family trail

Updated October 24, 2005

About Our Family Research

John Mc Innes enlisted in the Royal Engineers in Glasgow on 16th February 1855.Have traced quite a few descendants but cannot find his ancestors as there is a doubt as to the truth in his enlistment paper saying he was born in Barony,Lanark. He could have been born in Ireland. He was my great grandfather.
He married twice;Harriet Treffry from Devon in 1862 and they had 11 or 12 children.Harriet died in 1882 and a few months later he married a Sarah Johnson Collins. Her wherabouts are a mystery. He died in December 1886 not long after his 50th birthday. His son Edward WellsMcInnes was my grandfatherand my father was Edwin Michael Mc Innes a former editor of the Derby Evening Telegraph[part of the Associated Newspaper group]
