Gerald Thomas Thompson was born in Chicago IL on October 11, 1913. His wife, Eleanora Mildred Norfray, was born in Cicero IL on December 3, 1915.

They had four children: Joyce Elsie Mae, Judith Ellen Marie, James Eugene, and Jeffery Edward. James passed away, at the age of 17, from an auto accident. Eleanora passed away on July 10, 1993 at Dyer IN.
