Bernard Hughes married Mary Curry both born in Ireland. Immigrated to America I believe in and around 1883. They had 4 daughters that we are certain of Bridget,Pauline,Rose Josephine and Cecilia-Alice (aka: sissy alice ) and possibly a fifth daughter by the name of Annie. From family sources through the generations we believe there may even have been a son, Robert who died at a young age.
Bridget the eldest girl returned to Ireland at the age of 20yr to marry a farmer called Henry Donnelly who was 15yrs her senior. Pauline married a man by the name of Hillen or Hiller she had two children that we know of called Bobbie and Leon. Sissy-Alice married a professor, and Annie had a daughter called Maeme.
Bernard and Mary Hughes we believe died in California,I can't be specific but last known address was possibly San Francisco where Mary Hughes died in 1928/29 in a tragic accident where she was knocked down by a street car/ tram? When first coming to America Bernard Hughes worked as a minor in the Gold Rush, Shipping Manifest from Ellis Island show final distination as Goldfield, Nevada in the early 1900's. It is believed there, the family run a boarding house for the railroad workers.
I am currently searching any living relatives to this family. I am the full blooded Irish connection which was the result of Bridget returning to Ireland for marriage to Henry Donnelly. Her second youungest daughter Mary was my Granmother!
