My ancestors surround me, because they lived in Vermont, as I do. I see the cemetaries with family names, and pride and curiosity pique my interest. I have always said that I come from a long line of strong women, but little did I know how strong. Imagine Nancy Savery Taylor as she followed her husband Levi from VT to Nebraska , then to Arkansas. Having children every other year, living in a sod hut, and finally dying far away from her Vt family. My grandmother, Susan Taylor Dumouchel, helped keep her brothers and sisters connected back in 1897, as her father left to raise money to send the children back home to VT. The baby narrowly escaped being adopted as Susie hurried to buy a train ticket!
I am concentrating on my maternal ancestors right now, but I also have names and people from my father's side of the family. Todriff- Desjadon- Parker- Cassaugh.... those people have stories too, and I will be looking their way soon.
