This is a major surname in my family.
I am a 2nd Great Grand daughter of Lydia Hardin and Daniel Gross. Both were born in Union Township, Auglaize Co., Ohio. They were married in 1864 and raised a family of 12 children.
Lydia's parents were Mark Hardin and Margaret Sloan / Hardin .
Mark Hardin was born in 1816 in Somerset Co., Pa. He and Margaret were married in Auglaize Co.,Ohio Aug 9, 1840 and remained there the rest of their lives , raising a family of 10 children .
Mark's parents were John Hardin and Louise Cook / Hardin
John was born Mar 4, 1790 in South Hamton, Somerset Co.,Pa
and Louise in 1792, she died in 1833 a year after having given birth to their 8th child. They were married in Knox Co.,Ohio in 1812 and spent the rest of their lives in what is now Auglaize Co.,Ohio.
John's parents were Isaac Newton Hardin and Catherine Newmeyer
Isaac was born in 1676 in Southampton , Somerset Co.,Pa
