About Our Family Research

I am the daughter of Immanuel Arthur Cuyle born in Syracuse, New York on September 30, 1912, and Nina Arlene Walker born in Syracuse, New York on September 30, 1913. Immanuel and Nina knew each other as children and on September 30, 1930 they married and so began our family. Together they had 12 children. 5 boys and 7 girls. My father was an only child who's father had died of cancer when he was only a child. His mother remarried and I guess lost track of the Cuyle family. All that I knew beyond my father was my grandfathers name was William Irving Cuyle who married Bessie Orilla Straight. My mother was one of 6 children born to Benjamin Deforest Walker and Maime Angeline Warren. Maime was the daughter of Mary Jane Oniel and John Farmer Warren and I believe was born in Syracuse, New York. I knew nothing past my grandfather (Ben as he was called). As a child I never met anyone with the same last name as mine. I would always look in telephone books for other people with Cuyle for a name but never found any. About 2 years ago, that would have been 1999, I began playing around on the internet. I found through Family the family of my grandfather, his father's name was John Walker, who married Alice Rouse all of New York. Together they had 14 children, 5 of them died before school age. I also found a lady in New York who was married to a man named William Cuyle. She told me the names of his brothers, which were also the same as the names of 4 of my 5 brothers. I thought that was really interesting. She sent me the names of her husbands ancestors and their decendants. I searched but was dissapointed to find no mention of William Irving or Immanuel Arthur. On August 7th of 2000 one of my sisters and I began creating A Cuyle Family Tree Photo Albums, using the pictures left after my mothers death. We decided to start with what information was current and get all the family we knew documented. The really wonderful part was that Judy of New York who is the wife of William Cuyle I mentioned above, had been actively working and researching and found the missing link that connected her husbands family and mine. It turns out that we are 4th cousins. She has now connected us with the names of not only my fathers grandfather but his great-great-grandfather, and many many more relatives. She took my relative list from a list of 205 to a list of 411 family members. My sister and I decided that we did not want the information we were collecting and documenting to ever be lost so we not only made a copy of our Cuyle Family Tree Photo Albums for our selves but one for each of our children and one for each of our brothers and sisters. We have printed and distributed 22 sets of 3 books each for a total of 66 boooks, containing 19,904 pages. We are hoping to find via the internet more members of our family on both the Cuyle and the Walker side. If anyone out there reads this and you have any information of either side please contact us. Sincerely, Sue Fessler and Betty Yeck
