Looking to trace my husbands Italian family history back to Sicily for our children and grand children to cherish. My husbands grandparents both came here to New York at a young age of 12-13 years old in the early 1900's,they met and married in the USA. They resided in Youngstown, Ohio for serveral years with other Ficocelli family members who arrived from Scily as well. Two brothers Guisseppe and Sam, and I believe a sister all married in the United States. Later some of the family moved to Florida in St. Petersburg, Florida. Some of them remained in Youngstown, Ohio. My husbands grandfather's brother Sam Ficocelli, his wife and their children, later moved to Florida as well. Brothers Michael (wife Nancy) and Carmine (wife Truday)Ficocelli started the Youngstown Symphony, and brother Joseph (wife Helen) Ficocelli played the trumbone. Carmine remained in Ohio, but Michael and Joseph moved to Florida. Mistro Michael Ficocelli began the Sunshine Pop Orchestra, and Joseph Ficocelli later became the President of the Musicians Union in Pinellas County. Sisters Lena, who played and taught piano and Teresa Marie Ficocelli (the loving, devoted, caregiver of the family)also moved to Florida. Sam Ficocelli's brother, Joseph (Guisseppe) Ficocelli married Concetta Ficocelli, they were my husband's Richard Allen Ficocelli's grandparents. My husbands father, James George Ficocelli,Sr. married twice. With his first wife he had two children Charlene Ficocelli(later married) and James Geroge Ficocelli, Jr.(married)and served in the armed forces. Years later he met and married my husband's mother, Mildred Jane Flowers-Ficocelli, they lived in Baltimore, Maryland, where my husband and his siblings were borned and raised until he was a teenager. He then moved to Florida and stayed with his grandparents Joseph (Guiessppe) and Concetta Ficocelli until his parents moved here. He had four brothers and one sister, James George Ficocelli, Jr.(really the III), my husband Richard Allen, then brothers Robert Armond and John Thomas (deceased), one sister, Deborah Pauline Ficocelli-Marlow, and youngest brother Kurt Douglas Ficocelli. My husband's father had one sister Patricia Ficocelli-Gheri, and two brothers Joseph Carmen Ficocelli and Robert Armond Ficocelli, Guisseppe and Concetta Ficocelli's children. Guisseppe Ficocelli owned and operated a shoe store in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida for many years. If you know anything about the Ficocelli ancestry of my husbands family please email us at nonna_777@hotmail.com
