The German side of our family was centered on Breslau (Wroclaw, Poland) in Germany. Alfred and Magarethe(Gretchen), my Grandparents were deported from Breslau to Terezin CZ., 31 Aug 42 where Alfred died. Magarethe was then transported to "somewhere in Poland" 15 May 44 never to be heard of again, only one of millions to vanish. My Father Horst Paul Riesen Field left Breslau in the early stages of WWII to Czechoslovakia, then London, England where he worked for Bloomsbury House for a period trying to extricate people from the Nazis.He had some success with Beatus and her son Ernest.
Then on to Australia, back to England where he married and finally to Canada.
The Australian side connects to Shirley Crameri, my Mother. Centered on Melbourne with her sisters and brother I have few details of her side as yet.
Although my parents met in Australia they were married after a forced separation of 6 months. Shirley was to young in her parents minds to marry at the age of 18. So after the required time had elapsed off she went with Hurst and Berna Carrington to Tilbury, England, then on to Oxford an Marriage bells.
in September 1951 my parents came to Montreal, Quebec, Canada from Liverpool via Cunard`s SS Ascania, then on to Toronto, Ontario.
