This is so unfinished, I've just begun working on my genealogy and I hardly know what I'm doing. One branch of my family - Bohannon / Miller / Brown - has been researched extensively by Corine Reynolds. Her work is VERY valuable and accurately noted.
I began working on this simply because of some old photos of Mary Ann (Jones) Bohannon, who is a Native American of the Cherokee, and her Granddaughter, Roxie Anna (Bohannon) Miller, who is my Great Grandmother.
Well, that's about it. Fascinating, no? Feel Free to e-mail me if any comments or questions. :0)

- James Henry Bohannon and Mary Ann (Jones) Bohannon (71 KB)
These are my Great Great Great Grandparents, on my mother's side. James Henry Bohannon, son of Yancy Bohannon and Martha (Cox) Bohannon, was born in Virginia on August 6, 1824. He died September 1, 1893 in Mississippi Co., Missouri while visiting family. He and Mary Ann Jones, daughter of Susan Jones, were married 1845 in Tennessee. She was born in 1827 in North Carolina. She died June 20, 1887 in Decatur Co., Tennessee.
Mary Ann was 1/2 Native American, probably of the Cherokee tribe. There is only mention of Susan Jones being her mother, no father record has been found, yet. Hence, it is assumed that the father of Mary Ann (and Catherine Jones who is the second wife of Yancy Bohannon, James Henry's Father...) was a full-blooded Cherokee Native. Susan Jones lived with the Bohannon household in Benton Co., Tennessee, according to the 1850 census. In 1860, James Henry and family moved to Decatur Co., Tennessee where he was a farmer and merchant in the Lick Creek Community, 5th Civil District, Brodies Landing, Tennessee.
