About Our Family Research
I am interestd in finding out more information regarding my maiden name, which was Regardsoe. I have obtained my great great grandfathers marriage certificate from 1852, but this does not give his fathers christian name. I am unable so far to find any record of his birth. I have found an entry on the IGI for an Andrew Regardsoe's marriage to Mary Hogain in 1797 in St.Clement Danes church, London. As yet I am unable to connect the two entries. I would also be interested in finding the names origin, it being so unusual.I have spoken to distant family relatives, some believe it to be Italian and others Scandinavian. I understand that name spellings, sometimes changed over time, so maybe this was the case with the surname Regardsoe. There is a scandinavian name Regardson, and an Italian one Regazzo. I would be greatful to anyone who could help answer my questions. Thank you.
